The Future of Chores
In the summer of 2019 I worked as a robotics intern at the largest global consumer robotics company, iRobot. While I worked on a wide variety of projects and developed a vast range of skills, much of the work itself is unreleased and as such cannot be shared publicly. Much of it involved design and manufacturing work on iRobot’s autonomous lawnmower product to be released in the coming years. A few aspects of my work are shown here, and a variety of side projects are shown on my artboard.
Personal contributions: Robot design, CAD (Creo), design for injection molding, machining, soldering SMT components.
My time at iRobot was also marked by my volunteer work with MIT’s Women In Tech Program - an intense, month-long camp that introduces high-school women to engineering and design. I mentored pairs of students as they followed the design process to create their own novel products. Pictured below is one such product, a lockpick-resistant lock. I aided the students in formulating their design, generating CAD, and 3D printing them. This experience helped inform my love for teaching which remains to this day.
